Short Articles

Submission guidelines for short articles

Word limits

The Cambodian Education Forum (CEF) considers for publication articles that are about 1000-2000 words in length. Longer articles (2000 words or longer) may be considered for publication in the Cambodian Journal of Educational Research (CJER).

Articles must be in English. All submissions must be original and have not been published before.

Formatting

  • Articles must be submitted with 1.15 or 1.5 line spacing on an A4-sized Word document with margins on all sides at 2.54 cm (1 inch).
  • Articles must be in Times New Roman (size 12) and justified (except the reference list).
  • Articles titles, headings, and sub-headings must be in sentence case (i.e., capitalizing only the first word and proper nouns), left aligned, and bold.
  • Headings should be limited to three levels of headings.
  • Abbreviations should be accompanied by full words at first mention.
  • Italics should be used for emphasis.
  • Endnotes should be used instead of footnotes.
  • In-text citations and the reference list should follow the APA referencing style (Author, Year).
  • Tables and Figures should be numbered using Arabic numerals.
  • A table caption (title) should be placed above the table.
  • A figure caption (title) should be placed below the figure.
  • Tables and Figures should be submitted within the body of the text.
  • Double quotation marks should be used for direct quotes.
  • Quotations of more than 40 words should be set off from the main text by indentation, without any quotation marks.

We use American English for spelling and punctuation.

References

Acknowledgment of sources (both in-text citations and the reference list) must follow the APA 7th referencing style. The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text. Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last names of the first author of each work. If available, please always include DOIs as full DOI links or URL links in your reference list (e.g., https://doi.org/10.1007/s10734-023-01080-2).

Submission

Submissions of short articles will be blind reviewed by our editorial board members and invited external peer reviewers. If accepted for publication, the articles will be carefully edited to enhance clarity and conform to the CEF house style.

Interested contributors need to submit (1) an anonymized manuscript and (2) a title page that contains an article title, author names, affiliations, emails, address of the corresponding author, and a short author bio of around 50 words for each author to cef.correspondence@gmail.com. All manuscripts should be submitted as a Word document.

Publication Ethics

By publishing with the Cambodian Education Forum, you agree that we may share your article on our other platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. As an author, you have the right to share your article freely as long as you do not alter the content of the article and you acknowledge CEF as the publisher.

The Cambodian Education Forum is managed by a small team of researchers who have many other commitments and responsibilities. We will try to reply to you within 1-2 weeks to acknowledge the receipt of your submission. If you do not hear from us after two weeks, you may send a follow-up email. We reserve the right to accept or decline your submission based on the quality of the article. Submissions that are requested for revision(s) will only be published when a satisfactory revision is made by the authors.

All correspondence, including submission of short articles, should be sent to cef.correspondence@gmail.com.

Submission of manuscripts for publication consideration in the Cambodian Journal of Educational Research should be sent to cjer.journal@gmail.com.
